COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS TESTED
The List

The Grant Professional Certification examination measures a candidate's competency and skill in the grants profession. Those competencies and skills and the weight each should receive on the test were determined through a rigorous process that involved the participation of scores of professionals and with the assistance of credentialing experts.

A writing exercise will represent 20% of the examination score.

The remaining 80% will measure the competencies in the following list:

Michael Wells, GPCI Board Member, author and grants consultant, drafted the GPCI Literature Review as a tool in developing the credentialing examination. Early in the process, panels of subject matter experts relied on the Review to help identify the “skills and competencies” typical of a grants generalist with three to five years experience.
